“Holographic Nature is a series of paintings by Donia Jornod that explores how certain bodies and experiences are made invisible or forgotten in a world saturated with images and digital screens. Through these works, the artist examines how lived experience is mediated, distorted, and dissolved in an era where the boundaries between reality and virtuality collapse. In these works, memory begins to fade, creating a space for dreamlike remembrance. Using an archive of found materials—personal photographs, online images, video clips, and fleeting moments captured from her digital surroundings, Jornod treats these elements as raw fragments. She deliberately corrupts the files, damaging the images so that only glitches, shadows, and remnants remain. Here, the digital error becomes a form of memory—not a flaw, but a way of remembering through absence, distortion, and transformation.”
